Yesterday marked the 43rd anniversary of the 1969 moon landing. So what?! The computing power used to generate this humble post is probably greater than that used to send Neil Armstrong up in space back then, that is, if you believe that he went. (Some conspiracy theorists have suggested that it was an elaborate hoax designed to give the U.S.A. the edge in the cold war, a claim probably adequately dispelled by the likes of the ‘Mythbusters’!).
Of course, we are the most sophisticated computing power available (“fearfully and wonderfully made”, Psalm 139:14) and we can be mass-produced with unskilled labour! The computer power behind the computer power behind the moon landing was human intelligence, yet behind this was the creative genius of God. We are God’s supreme creation, a masterpiece of His making, loved so much as to be given redemption by Christ if we will personally accept it. Therefore, using our created brain to discover that we are nothing by ourselves, and to use it to ultimately respond to the one who made it, seems like the greatest intelligence of all.
