Life’s Storms

In Luke 8:22-25, we read that Jesus told His disciples to go to the other side of the lake.  We often focus on what it then says about Jesus calming the storm that arose during the journey after being awakened from His sleep.  But Jesus’ response to the disciples’ fear is a telling question: “Where is your faith?”

This is a question that we need to ask ourselves when the circumstances of life cause natural and understandable anxiety.  The antidote to fear is faith and this faith is in the Word that God has spoken about our circumstances.  The question is whether we will be calm and confident in the belief that what He says will come to pass.

In this story, Jesus had spoken, but the fear was robbing the disciples of their security.  The fear response had them cry out: “Master, Master we are perishing”.

We don’t need to perish in the midst of life’s storms.  We are “going to the other side”. What is your declaration about your world today?  “Where is your faith?”!
